    Touch A Cosmic Ray

The team designed a new way to interact with cosmic rays using advanced technology, constructing a particle detection system using scintillators from CAEN, constructing a user interface including a multi-layer dichroic and smart film, a water-jet cut and rivetted base cabinet, and arduino-controlled electronics control.

    Services and Transportation

The team designed a custom series of interlocking CNC cut crates to safely protect and transport delicate components of the exhibition. The system was designed to ease setup, teardown, and transportation.

    Structure

The largest element of the experience, the housing tent, was designed as a partial geodesic dome to draw attention upwards towards space. This project required use of 3D modeling, advanced sewing techniques, welding custom connectors for fiberglass supports, and complex projection mapping for an immersive experience throughout the structure.

    Audio and Visual Identity

The team constructed a full visual identity, including color palettes, typography, logos, and striking signage. To complete the immersive experience, the team created a transporting audio experience with custom voiceover and soundscapes to complement a wide variety of visuals, include some made from scientific simulations of astrophysical events, and rendered in 3D using Blender.
